The Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe (PCNE) was established in 1994 and it became an official association (under Dutch law) in 2004.
Pharmaceutical Care is the pharmacist's contribution to the care of individuals, in order to optimize medicines use and improve health outcomes.
The PCNE Working Conferences are the educational events of the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe. Such conferences typically last 3-4 days and have a number of workshops. The workshops last at least 12 hours so that proper results can be reached. Reports and proceedings of the Working Conferences are available for all interested parties. The first Working Conference was held in 1999 in Hilleød, Denmark.
Workshop are held in all uneven years, usually in February.
The PCNE Working Symposia are the creative events of the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe. Such symposia usually last one day and have a small number of dedicated workshops. In the workshops, pharmaceutical care related topics are further developped, like the drug-related problem classification, approaches to medication review or joint European research projects. Reports and proceedings of the Working Conferences are available for all PCNE members. Some reports are also available to other interested parties. The first Working Symposium was held in 2009 in Geneva, Switzerland.
Symposia are held in all even years, usually in February.
