The Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe (PCNE) was established in 1994 and it became an official association (under Dutch law) in 2004.
Pharmaceutical Care is the pharmacist's contribution to the care of individuals, in order to optimize medicines use and improve health outcomes.
To make pharmaceutical care effective and efficient in practice, guidelines are needed. Such guidelines need to be based on healthcare standards. During the 2014 Working Symposium in Malta, participants have initiated a working group that is going to deal with creating guidelines and indicators. During the 2017 Working Conference also a Workshop on Indicators took place.
During the General Assembly in 2020, the Working Group Guidelines and Indicators was officially founded.
